How to merge PDF files

1. Drop in two or more PDFs. You can add them in several goes rather than all at once.
2. Check the order in the list. Pages are combined top to bottom, exactly as shown.
3. Remove anything you added by mistake with the × beside it.
4. Press Merge, then download the combined file.

What merging does to your files

Each source document is parsed, and every page is copied into a new PDF in sequence. Page content is transferred as-is: text stays selectable, vector graphics stay sharp at any zoom, and images keep their original resolution. Nothing is re-encoded, so merging does not degrade quality and does not usually make the total much larger than the sum of its parts.

Documents of different page sizes can be merged freely. An A4 report followed by a US Letter appendix produces one file whose pages simply have different dimensions. Every PDF reader handles this correctly, and printers will scale each page to the paper you choose.

Common reasons to merge

• Sending one attachment instead of nine: application forms, ID proofs and certificates combined into a single upload.
• Assembling a report from sections that different people wrote.
• Putting scanned pages back together after a scanner split them into separate files.
• Archiving related invoices for a month or a quarter as one document.

Frequently asked questions

Is there a limit on how many files I can combine?

There is no fixed limit. The practical ceiling is your device's memory, since every file is held in the browser while it works. Dozens of ordinary documents are fine; a few hundred large scans on an older phone may not be.

Can I reorder pages, not just files?

Not here. This tool works at the file level. To reorder pages, split the PDF into single pages first with our Split PDF tool, then merge them back in the order you want.

Are password-protected PDFs supported?

Remove the password first using Unlock PDF, then merge. An encrypted file cannot be read until it is decrypted, so merging would otherwise fail.

Do my files get uploaded?

No. Merging happens entirely inside your browser, which is why it works on confidential documents you would never want to hand to a website.
