How the tables are found
Tables with ruled lines are rebuilt from the lines themselves: the rules mark the column and row edges, cells that span several columns become merged cells, and the lines and shading carry over as cell borders and fills, with the same column widths and row heights as the PDF.
Tables without lines, like most bank statements, are read the way you would read them: each line of text becomes a row, and columns are found from the gaps that run straight down the page between the dates, descriptions and amounts. Text that wraps onto a second line stays in its own column.
Numbers that behave like numbers
A PDF only holds characters, so a careless conversion leaves “1,23,456.00” as text that Excel cannot add up. This converter reads each cell: amounts become numbers with their format kept (Indian grouping, currency symbol, decimals), amounts in brackets become negative, percentages become percentages, and dates become real Excel dates, so SUM, sorting and filters work straight away. Day and month order is worked out per column: dd/mm, as used in India, unless a date like 25/12 shows the column must be mm/dd. Account numbers, PINs and codes with leading zeros stay as text so nothing is lost.
Limits worth knowing
- Scanned PDFs are pictures of pages with no text inside, so there is nothing to read. If your scan was run through OCR, its hidden text is used.
- Charts and pictures are not carried over; only text and tables are.
- Unusual layouts such as text running in several columns of prose, or tables whose columns barely have a gap, may need a column moved by hand afterwards.
- Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked first with Unlock PDF.

Can I convert a bank statement PDF to Excel?
Yes. Statements are the main thing this tool is built for: dates, descriptions, debits, credits and balances go into their own columns, with amounts as real numbers you can total.
Will the amounts be numbers or text?
Numbers. Commas, currency symbols and Indian grouping are understood, bracketed amounts become negative, and the original look is kept with a number format.
Can I put all pages in one sheet?
Yes. Choose All pages in one sheet before converting. The default is one sheet per page.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
Only if the scan has been run through OCR and carries hidden text. A plain scan is just pictures, with no text to put in cells.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
