What you get in Word
A PDF stores where each letter is drawn, not paragraphs or tables, so a converter has to work the structure out. This one reads every piece of each page and rebuilds it as the thing Word itself uses. Each line of text becomes a paragraph with the same font, size, weight and colour, indented and spaced so it sits where it was on the page. Lines that sit side by side, like the label and value columns of a form, keep their positions with tab stops.
A layout drawn with ruled lines, such as the grid of an invoice, a delivery challan, a bank statement or a mark sheet, becomes a real Word table: the rules become cell borders, shaded boxes become cell shading, boxes spanning several columns become merged cells, and every value goes into its own cell with its alignment. You can type in a cell, add a row or widen a column like any table you made yourself.
Logos and photos come through as pictures in their original place. Each page of the PDF starts a new page in Word, with the same paper size.
Limits worth knowing
- Scanned PDFs are pictures of text, so there is nothing to make editable. The tool tells you when it finds no text.
- Tables without lines, laid out with spacing only, come through as aligned paragraphs rather than a table.
- Fonts that are not on your computer are replaced with the closest standard one, with the letter spacing adjusted so each line keeps its width.
- Each line is its own paragraph, which keeps the layout exact. If you rewrite a long passage, join the lines first so Word can wrap it.
If the PDF is password protected, remove the password first with Unlock PDF. To go the other way and share the edited document as a PDF, save it as PDF from Word.
Privacy
The PDF is opened and read by your own browser using pdf.js, the same engine Firefox uses to show PDFs, and the Word file is written on your device. No copy of your document is sent to our server or anyone else's, which matters for the invoices, statements and certificates people usually convert.
Frequently asked questions
Will tables come through as real Word tables?
Yes, when the PDF draws them with lines. The grid becomes a Word table with merged cells, borders and shading, and each value sits in its own cell.
Will the Word file look the same as the PDF?
Very close. Each line is placed where it was, and table rows keep their exact heights. The visible differences come from fonts your computer does not have, which are swapped for the nearest standard font.
Can I convert a scanned PDF?
Not into editable text. A scan has no text layer, so its pages come through as pictures. The tool says so when it happens.
Is there a page limit?
No fixed limit. Very long PDFs take longer and use more memory, so convert those on a computer rather than a phone.
Is my PDF uploaded?
No. The conversion runs entirely in your browser and the file never leaves your device.
